Information for visiting clubs playing against Darlington

Thank you for agreeing to organise your team for the social cricket match and family barbecue against DSCC.  Please be advised of the following information for the match:

Date: Sunday xxx 20xx
Venue: Darlington Oval, Pine Terrace, Darlington.
Time: 11:30am arrival for 11.45am sharp game commencement, to approximately 6pm. 
Attire: Players are expected to wear white or a team colour (shorts are fine)
Rules: 40 x 6 ball overs, normal cricket rules apply
A batsman cannot be dismissed on the first ball he receives except by run out
No alcohol to be consumed during the game (both on and off the field)
Unless previously agreed with DSCC Captain, opposition teams to be a maximum of 12 players

In the spirit of fair play, we encourage:

  • each team member to bowl 4 overs and to get a bat 
  • each batsman to retire after scoring 50 runs (and only return after whole team has batted).
  • Any variation to the above can be discussed on the day between the team captains.

Equipment: DSCC will provide all equipment including new balls for both innings.

Afternoon Tea:  Between innings (provided, approx 2.45pm) – all players and families welcome.
Showers: On completion of the match hot showers are available at the Oval.
Family Barbecue: There will be an evening BBQ for families and players of both teams to be held at the home of xxx at xxx. We encourage all players to attend this function. Gas barbecues are provided as well as a selection of ice-cold beers, bottled wines and ciders and non-alcoholic drinks. Our hosts will provide a selection of fresh salads. Your players and families need only bring their own meat, plates, cutlery and chairs.

Player match fee: In order to cover costs (oval hire, new balls, equipment, afternoon teas, contribution to beverages and salads) a contribution of $30 per player (includes their family) is requested. Could your captain assist our Treasurer by arranging collection from all your players and providing to him or his representative.

Please note:
When selecting your side, please take into account the DSCC average playing age is 55 plus.
Due to considerations of legal liability, no players under the age of 16 years can play.
